    Intro – Academics/Work – Community – Family

    Introduction

    Michel Watson

Ms. Watson is an experienced and detail-oriented attorney.  She primarily practices in the areas of family law, debt collection, real estate, dependency, and injunctions.  Michel is straightforward and compassionate and puts her clients at ease because she gives a knowledgeable assessment of the case.

As a mother herself, Ms. Watson knows how meaningful it is being a parent. She will fight hard for your rights to be a parent for your children.  Ms. Watson helps her family law clients confront the tough decisions surrounding divorce. With her extensive knowledge of finance, Michel can quickly analyze equitable distribution and child support issues. She can cut through the seemingly unsolvable issues regarding timesharing and parental responsibility and present detailed solutions.

    Academics / Work

Ms. Watson received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Legal Studies and Business Management from the University of Central Florida in Orlando (Go Knights!).  Before attending law school at Barry University School of Law, she defended Ford Motor Company in automotive manufacturer warranty disputes and state lemon law claims.  Ms. Watson often resolved cases through mediation and arbitration to avoid unnecessary litigation.

Ms. Watson interned at the Moore Justice Center during the mortgage foreclosure crisis, working with the honorable Judge Charles M. Holcomb, and Judge Larry Johnson. The Foreclosure Division team worked tirelessly to handle the storm of foreclosure filings from banks and lending institutions, as borrowers in default sought modification, financial debt counseling, and federal assistance to save their homes.

Ms. Watson has experience in criminal, family law, and debt litigation.  She has worked in County and Circuit courts throughout Florida. Flying all over Florida to litigate cases gave Ms. Watson a tremendous opportunity to learn from many different judges and lawyers.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Watson worked as an Associate Attorney, representing Plaintiffs in creditor actions as well as State Farm Auto Insurance, handling automotive accident and property damage subrogation cases. She also worked for a local firm as a Staff Attorney handling family law and criminal defense cases.  Ms. Watson continues to practice in these areas and has expanded into adoptions, domestic violence, wills, landlord/tenant, and real estate matters.

“I have known and worked with Attorney Watson for several years. She exhibits the most professional work in the courtroom and out.  It is without reservation that I recommend her for your family law and other matters.   If she can negotiate a resolution for you, she will and if you must go to trial you will have an aggressive attorney handling  your matter.”

    ~ Bonnie Klein Rhoden, Esquire.

    Community / Philanthropy

Ms. Watson takes her client’s matters to heart and greets her clients with empathy and compassion.  She exercises professionalism and civility while working to achieve the most beneficial outcome for her clients.  She is a member of the Brevard County Bar Association, the American Inns of Court, and serves as a Guardian Ad Litem, and offers her services as an Attorney Ad Litem for Brevard County. Ms. Watson believes strongly in protecting the most vulnerable and beloved members of society – our children and our elders.

During tax season, Ms. Watson volunteers with the United Way of Brevard County’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offering free Federal Tax preparation services to the disabled, elderly, and Spanish speaking taxpayers of Brevard County.  She is grateful to be able to help families who are frustrated and overwhelmed by the task of filing their taxes and is happy to offer her guidance through the process.

As a native, Ms. Watson was raised along Brevard’s beautiful, sandy beaches and the Indian River. Her family helps with Keep Brevard Beautiful Beach cleanups along Brevard’s Cocoa Beach, the Canaveral National Seashore, and supports the Lagoon Friendly Lawn Nutrient Pollution Reduction Program to prevent algae blooms and fish kills in the Indian River Lagoon.

Ms. Watson works with kids and families in Cocoa through the Cocoa Little League and the YMCA of Central Florida’s youth scholarships for basketball, football, baseball, and swimming lessons.  Ms. Watson believes youth sports programs are essential for our community’s at risk youth.

    Family

Attorney Watson has lived in Brevard County for over 37 years. When away from the office, Ms. Watson enjoys time with her husband and their two very active children.  She has lots of chickens and pigs at her family’s hobby farm and enjoys exploring different methods of homesteading. On cool weekend mornings, you’re sure to find her with her children enjoying breakfast on her back porch, admiring the chickens as they free range.  You can reach Attorney Michel Watson  in the office at 321-631-0506 or by using  the Contact Form at the top right  of  this page.
